Brunch in Majestic Hotel Barcelona

Brunch in Spain is quite unusual, but it is starting to be an ideal plan to enjoy of a quiet meeting with friends, who appreciate the gastronomy and good conversation, without hurry and with joy. When is the perfect timing to do that? On Sunday!

We never stop exploring our own city like good foodies, and our guests ask us for this option quite often. So, we decided to try, this time, the brunch that is offering an emblematic place: Majestic Hotel
.

Majestic Hotel

The hotel is placed at Passeig de Gracia, the most prestigious avenue around the city, very close to the most exclusive stores or the most emblematic buildings created by Gaudí.

It belongs to a family from Barcelona, and somehow this singularity is present since one can breathe in every corner a part of its history through the extensive collection of art works, that can be enjoyed on the walls of this hotel.

The “Horizons” painting is located on the landing of the staircase leading to the “brunch” room. It Is the work of Modest Urgell, an enormous painter who was Joan Miró’s master.

This five-star hotel has, moreover, a rooftop named La Dolce Vitae, with great views of nearly all the city of Barcelona. Furthermore, on the top floor of the hotel, you can enjoy of a space of relaxation and well-being: the MajesticSpa.

Majestic was inaugurated in 1918, next year they are celebrating their centenary; and nevertheless you can perceive that it has never stopped renewing itself.

We would love to film the history of this hotel… we cannot stop imaging different perspectives to approach this project, we wish they contemplate a project of these characteristics, it would be so curious… But we are going to focus on this post the brunch we enjoyed.

Brunch experience

Our first impression was very pleasant as the atmosphere was relaxed and we were placed on the terrace, definetely the best location to enjoy this space. Its dining room and this quiet terrace are located on the first floor.

The service is of a free buffet type with three main spaces. This first bar is of cold dishes, the second is of hot dishes and the third is of pastries and sweets. They offer good and unlimited drinks too. The choices are very extensive and you can appreciate the base of the local cuisine and its products (high quality cheeses and sausages).

This kitchen is run by Chef advisor Nandu Jubany. A small detail is that the Majestic’s brunch has also offers for the little ones.

The treatment of the staff was always exquisite and outstanding. Aware if anything was needed and that our Moët Chandon glasses were never empty.

In the first part of cold dishes, there is a great selection of Catalan and Iberian sausages, Catalan cheeses, quince and preserves. In addition to a suggestive selection of seafood, where we would highlight the oysters, so delicious!

But you also find a show cooking of sushi, sashimi and ceviche. Although the local gastronomy has a privileged place; we also find other dishes inspired by Asian, Oriental and fusion of several cultures.

When you go to the hot dishes bar, first, what is not missing in a classic brunch: Benedictine eggs. Something to highlight is the chicken cannelloni with roasted juice and parmesan, so perfect! You can also enjoy a tribute to the best of Catalan cuisine with a lobster stew and rock fish.

Desserts and sweets bar

The desserts and sweets area really needs to be highlighted, it was a temple! Spectacular quality and art of pastries, which for me has been the best I have ever found in a brunch. Financier of hazelnuts and orange blossom, strawberry clouds, cheesecake with passion fruit, artisan chocolate cakes, lemon, figs and orange and endless delights.

The value for money is unbeatable and certainly a good recommendation on how to spend a Sunday; celebrating a birthday or a meeting between friends relaxed and full of gastronomic pleasures.
